Overview
Installing NetMirror on an Android TV, Google TV or Fire TV takes about three minutes. You\'ll toggle one permission, download the 49 MB APK in your TV\'s web browser, tap Install with your remote, and launch the app from your TV\'s apps row. No Play Store, no Google account requirement, no signup — just the streaming feed in front of you.
The hardest part is typing the URL with a D-pad remote — and most modern TVs solve that with a built-in microphone for voice search. If you do a lot of TV browsing, a cheap Bluetooth keyboard transforms the experience.
This guide uses illustrated TV-screen mockups for each step (rather than photographs of a TV screen) so you can see exactly what each settings menu and dialog looks like. The actual on-screen text will match the brand and TV-OS version you\'re running — Sony, Mi, OnePlus, Samsung etc. — but the flow is identical.
Which TVs work with NetMirror?
The native TV APK works on any Smart TV running Android TV 7.0+ or Google TV. That covers the vast majority of mid-range and premium Smart TVs sold since 2020. Amazon Fire TV (Firestick, Cube) is also supported — see the dedicated Firestick guide for that flow.

Step-by-step install
4 steps · ~3 minFour steps, in order. Each step has an illustrated TV-screen mockup showing exactly what the menu / dialog looks like, what to navigate to with the remote, and a quick tip for common brand-specific differences.
Allow your TV to install apps from outside the Play Store
On stock Android TV: press the Home button → tap the gear icon → Device Preferences → Security & Restrictions → Unknown Sources → enable for your browser. On Sony Bravia, it lives under Settings → Apps → Security & restrictions. On Mi TV, you'll find it under Settings → Additional settings → Privacy → Special app access.
Open the NetMirror TV download page in your browser
Type netmirror.io/download/smart-tv into the address bar (a Bluetooth keyboard makes this 10x easier), or hold the mic button on your remote and say "NetMirror download smart TV". You'll land on the download page — click the big "Download TV APK" button and the 49 MB file saves to your TV's Downloads folder.
Tap Install with your remote
Select Install (right arrow → OK). The system installer runs for 15-20 seconds and shows a brief "Verifying app" screen — that's Google Play Protect scanning the APK before allowing it through. Once done, you'll see an "App installed" confirmation.
Launch NetMirror from your Apps row
You land on the Netflix-style home feed, navigable entirely with your remote: D-pad moves the cursor, OK plays, Back returns. No signup required on the TV build. Multi-language audio and subtitles work out of the box, and the player supports up to 4K HDR with Dolby Vision on capable TVs.
You\'re streaming on the big screen.
Browse the home feed with your D-pad, hit OK to play, switch audio language mid-playback from the player settings. The TV app supports up to 4K HDR with Dolby Vision on capable TVs. Multi-language audio and 50+ language subtitles work out of the box.
First-run setup
When you launch NetMirror for the first time on TV, the onboarding takes about 20 seconds total:
- 1
A one-time language picker — set your preferred audio and subtitle language. Use the remote D-pad to move and OK to select.
- 2
A storage permission prompt — accept this to enable the local watchlist and "Continue Watching" row to persist between sessions.
- 3
A 10-second introduction to the remote controls — how to scrub the player, switch audio language, toggle subtitles, exit to home.
- 4
You land on the home feed — featured banner up top, OTT platform tabs across, Continue Watching and Trending rows below.
Four remote-control tips that save real time
Typing URLs and navigating TV menus with a D-pad is slow. These four tricks shave minutes off every TV setup — not just NetMirror.
Voice search the URL
Hold the mic button on your remote, say "NetMirror dot io slash download slash smart TV" — Google Assistant types it for you.
Use a Bluetooth keyboard
A cheap Bluetooth keyboard transforms TV setup. Type URLs, search titles, log in to apps — all in seconds.
File Manager as backup
If the post-download install prompt disappears, open File Manager → Downloads → tap NetMirrorTV.apk to install manually.
Pin to home for speed
Long-press the NetMirror icon → Move to Home / Pin → it sits front-and-center next to Netflix and Prime.
Troubleshooting
6 common issues · verified fixesThe six most common TV-install hiccups across thousands of installs — root cause and verified fix for each.
"Unknown Sources" toggle is greyed out
Your TV brand has hidden the toggle under Advanced/Developer settings, or your firmware version is too old.
On Sony Bravia: Settings → Apps → ⋮ → Special app access → Install unknown apps. On Mi TV: Settings → Additional settings → Privacy. On older Android TV (7.x), update your firmware first — Settings → Device Preferences → About → System update.
TV browser won't open the download page
Your TV's built-in browser is outdated or doesn't support modern HTTPS.
Install TV Bro from the Play Store — it's free, fast and built for TV remotes. Search "TV Bro" on Play Store → install → open → navigate to the NetMirror download URL. Puffin TV is a great alternative.
APK download finishes but "Install" prompt never appears
Some TV browsers don't hand the APK file to the system installer automatically.
Install a File Manager app (e.g., "X-plore File Manager" or "FE File Explorer" from Play Store). Open it → navigate to Downloads → find NetMirrorTV.apk → tap with OK → tap Install.
Install fails with "App not installed" error
Either an older NetMirror version is already installed, or the APK is incompatible with your Android TV version.
Uninstall any existing NetMirror first — Settings → Apps → NetMirror → Uninstall. Then retry the install. If still failing, your Android version may be below 7.0 — check Settings → About.
Video player shows a black screen or no sound
TV HDR/HDMI handshake glitch, or audio output is set to a format the source doesn't deliver.
Quit NetMirror, unplug your TV for 30 seconds, plug back in. In NetMirror, open the player → gear icon → Audio → switch to "Stereo (PCM)" instead of Dolby/DTS for problematic titles.
Remote can't navigate inside the NetMirror player
Some Android TV launchers intercept D-pad events.
Quit other launcher apps if any are running. The fallback: use the Google TV / Android TV remote app on your phone (free, App Store / Play Store) for full keyboard + trackpad control.
